2nd Day of the European Championships in Torbole, ITA     
After a morning with rain and fresh snow in the mountains the north wind was predicted 30 knots or 10 knots and other forecasts predicted southerly winds so the confusion was complete. The fleet stayed ashore - at least until 2 pm. The forecasts has been more accurate at this time and it was clear: a strong north wind came over the mountains and decended to the Lake Garda but 6 miles further in the south it hit Malcesine with 30 knots plus. Up here in the north it was a nice tricky breeze with gusts and shifts around 10 until 22 knots. So the fleet watered and had three nice races, mostly tactical. The first race saw the European Champion from Hungary in front working up the fleet to the top choosing consequently the left side, called the valley. Second race was taken out by John Winning and his crew strongly, the last race of the day has been won by leader Jamie Mears with Pica from UK.
