18 Teams found their way to beautiful Lake Garda and were ready to compete for the title of the European Champion. Biggest group in the are definitely the UK-Class with 8 competitors, followed by the German class with another four teams. The numerous power also displayed in the results after the first three races as on the top of the classement you can find two british teams in front, followed by the Australian and an US-Team.
At perfect small rig conditions in warm southerly winds all teams went for the small rig and headed for the first start at 1 PM. Pica from UK with Jamie,Tristan and Steward took out the first two races in superios way, also taking advantage of a capsize from the US Team in the first race. Howard Hamlin with Matt Mc Kinlay and Scott Babbage came back strongly ant took out the third race of the day leading John Winning with sheet Grant Rollerson and Andrew Hay to the finish. The british teams finished in three and four. Number two of the classement, Jarrod Simpson with Adam Minter and Tim Paul sailed a strong first day always being under the top boats, although they had definitely the smallest Main in the top teams. Last European Grand Prix winner from Hungary, Jack Grogan with Mike Banks and Sam Caslin had gear failure in the first race and a long night of mast repair was definitely waiting for them. We all hope they will come back the next day same as the dutch team with a broken mast also.
