Only seven days to go until the first race of the European Championship in Torbole on Lake Garda. We expect 17 competitors, even 2 or 3 more, if the Italian teams will decide to participate. Two competitors are participating from outside Europe, World Class President John "Woody" Winning from Australia, last years Mark Foy Trophy winner with provisional sheethand "Rollo" Grant Rollerson who used to steer Mounts Bay WA, former Slam. From USA Howard Hamlin will participate, leader of the still inofficial World Rankings.
The weather forecast for Lake Garda will be mostly thermical winds around 22 knots for the northern part of the lake always has stronger winds than the southern part. The Circolo Vela Torbole presents wonderful trophies to the first five Teams. For the Handycap teams sailing the shorter courses with lower windward marks, Torbole will be a good chance to learn and fight in the middle of the fleet.
For the ranking they will be put behind the last team, that sailed the normal longer course.
