we mount our jib cleats on the wing tube on the boat using standard harken swivels. This makes it easier to manoeuvre the rack when the sails are up since the jib can remain cleated. on the vang and cunningham, we use clam cleats mounted on the horizontal wing tube as far forward as possible. Advantages of the clam cleats, no moving parts, when you let off the vang it always goes back in the cleat reducing the risk that the rig inverts if the vang goes completely off. this also means that it is always in the cleat on the leeward side after a rounding or whenever. cam cleats by comparison have moving parts that can break and although smoother, are more sensitve to the angle of the rope when cleating and do not automatically re-cleat after release. for take ups, we use the simplest run possible to allow continuous lines on all 3. a block on the net as far outboard as possible, lines run through these then down untder the net to a block on a take up from the aft edge of the net, back to a block underneath the cleats them selves. then to 3 blocks under the spin bag and up to the opposite side. lines are all splice end to end with the cover brought together so the splice is full load and can be cleated meaning we don't have to worry about where it is in the system when sailing. i have line lenght, diameters and pics. can send them if you are interested. just post your email address and i will forward. cheers mason GE Commercial Finanace (GBR 30) |

| This year we have to change the nets on our wings, and we want to optimize the JIB, VANG and CUN SYSTEM on the wings.
Do you have any ideas or pics of a good working system?
Cheers |
