Dear 18 sailors,
today I got a really sad email from Stroem. Dr.Christian Fries, one of his longtime companions and middleman on his 18 "Marine Club" lost his long fight against cancer and died yesterday. Until the end he faught bravely and believed in his healing and return on the wings of an 18. During early spring everything seemed to be o.k. again, but it wasn't. His last journey led him to Carnac to visit the 18 Grand Prix but this was to much for his limited power and he had to visit the hospital. Most of the german sailors know him well, the longtime-sailors as crew of Christoph Hagemeyer, the younger ones as the fotographer from the skiffmania. We will miss him. Our thoughts will be with his widow Annette, we wish her only the best and the strength to put up with this situation.
